Gas-filled spark gap operating in the range of pressures of the filling gases from 100 Pa to tens of atm is the main and the most successful competitor of vacuum spark gaps with solid and liquid cathode. By certain parameter intervals a gas-filled spark gap possesses higher commutation speed (units of nanoseconds), smaller dimensions, and greater stability of temporary parameters.
