HeCd lasers
JSC “Research Institute of Gas Discharge Devices “PLASMA” manufactures a wide range of gas-discharge ion metal vapor lasers.
He-Cd (Cd vapor) laser of our manufacture is a source of CW coherent violet (441.6 nm) and UV (325 and 354 nm) radiation. He-Cd lasers operate in CW mode, they are simple and reliable in operation, do not require water cooling, consume low power and are powered from conventional mains 220 V, 50 Hz. Wavelength range of He-Cd laser well fits the maximum sensitivity range of a large number of photomaterials and photoresists.
Emission of He-Cd laser is characterized by high energy density, high coherence, high stability of parameters, low divergence and excellent beam quality (a highly pure TEMoo mode).
He-Cd laser is applied in research in the field physics (first of all, in semiconductors), biophysics, biochemistry, medicine; in industrial processing of materials (stereolithography), in fabrication of holographic and diffraction optical components (gratings, filters, objectives), in test and measuring instruments.
We manufacture 20 models of He-Cd gas discharge lasers as a standard line (HCL series) and original compact lasers (HCCL series). Besides, we can design or re-design lasers to the customer’s requirements.
Types of the Offered He-Cd Lasers
- Laser with simultaneous generation on 2 wavelengths, has the power of linear-polarized emission from 5 to 20 mW at wavelength 325 nm and from 35 to 100 mW at wavelength 441.6 nm.
- Laser with generation at 1 wavelength 0.44 µm has power of linear-polarized emission 60 – 150 mW.
- Laser with generation at 1 wavelength 0.32 µm has emission power in the range 10 – 35 mW.
Characteristics and peculiarities of our He-Cd Lasers
The basis of construction of the laser head is an optics holder made of superinvar or coal-plastic, to which a discharge tube is fastened, sealed with Brewster windows, and mirrors of the resonator. Due to the exclusively low heat expansion coefficient of the superinvar (coal-plastic) He-Cd laser possesses super stability and does not require water or air cooling. Besides, He-Cd laser with index (I) has increased emission coherency due to the use of the even cadmium isotope.
The new series of compact He-Cd lasers includes 7 models with emission power in the range 10 – 25 mW at wavelength 441.6 nm, and 6 – 25 mW at wavelength 325 nm.
The constructional peculiarity of these lasers is non-adjustable coaxial laser tube. Resonator mirrors are rigidly fastened directly to the discharge tube which allows not to use an optics holder and to make the construction of the laser head more compact and light.
The discharge channel of the laser tube of the gas laser is protected with coaxial cover, along which a triggered air flow is organized. Cadmium heater is placed inside the discharge tube of the He-Cd laser; it is advanced to the Cd to the maximum and as well protected from the outer flows by the cover of the discharge tube of the He-Cd laser. This has allowed increasing operation stability and efficiency.
Stability of our He-Cd Lasers
High stability of laser generation based on Cd vapors is provided by automatic control of the temperature of the wall of the laser’s outer cover by changing the air flow depending on the ambient temperature. One more advantage of the coaxial construction of He-Cd laser is the possibility to reserve great amount of He, which raises laser reliability.
The combination of air cooling with the little weight of the laser allows decreasing readiness time of HCCL series greatly. Laser construction is unique and is protected with the patent. The switching-off of the laser is made by a special program, providing reliable protection of optical elements from dirtying and excluding the appearance of vibrations while switching on.
He-Cd laser of HCCL series is a convenient, economical, and reliable source of emission in violet and UV spectrum range aimed to be used in biophysics, biochemistry, medicine, holography, production of diffraction optical elements.
